I grew up in a Christian family, and my parents had always taught me about God, brought me to church & Sunday School, etc. And I knew that God loved me and would answer my prayers, but God wasn’t really personal and important in my life.

Gideon FungWhen I was about 9, I started to be aware of how I needed to accept Jesus into my life personally and that my parents can’t do that for me. I realized that, although Jesus had already died on the cross and shed His blood to wash away my sins, this forgiveness doesn’t become mine until I accept it for myself. One night, before I went to bed, I knelt down and prayed, asking Jesus to come into my life and forgive my sins. Then, when I was 12, I went to a summer camp, in which I learned that God needs to be the first priority in my life. On the last night of that camp, I gave God the control of my life.

Since then, I have gotten to know God better and better. My life still has its ups and downs, but God has been with me all the time, teaching me to trust Him every moment of my life.
