Currently I am working as a pastor at Pacific Grace MB Church in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. I really enjoy what I do, as I get many opportunities to share about the saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is just so exciting to know that I am part of a bigger plan and that God is in control of everything.

Isaac QuanI guess my journey to where I am right now has had its ups and downs, but it is all worth it as I spread the love of God. Anyway, let me tell you a little bit about myself. I’ve been a Christian nearly all my life. I was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, grew up in a Christian home and start attending church even before I was born in my mother’s womb. I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Saviour when I was six years old. I still remember the night. My mom used to tell be Bible bedtime stories before I went to bed. On this particular night, I can not remember the story that she told, but I do remember her explaining to me that I was a sinner and that I needed to have a personal relationship with Jesus in order to be right with God. She explained to me that Yahweh God created the heavens, the earth, and everything that grew on the earth, including people. God loved us so much that he wanted to have a relationship with us, but unfortunately, people sinned (doing things apart from God’s will, things that we know are wrong), and because of that we were separated from God. In other words, our relationship with God was severed because a holy God could not have anything to do with sin. However, God still loved us and continued to want to have that relationship with us so He sent His Son, Jesus Christ to this world to die for our sins. The Bible tells us that the wages of sin is death and that the death of Jesus Christ on the cross was to pay those wages. All we need to do was to accept Jesus as our personal friend, repent from our sins, and confess with our mouths that Jesus is our Saviour. If we did these things, we would once again be able to have that relationship with God. That night changed my life, for I repented from my sins and made a commitment to make Jesus the Lord of my life.

When I was 15 years old, I attended a mission conference in Regina, Saskatchewan. Usually, at these conferences, there is some kind of an altar call. On the last night of that conference, I felt the Lord speaking to me when the call came for full-time ministry and I made a promise to the Lord that I would do it if and when He needed me. Twelve years later, I was called upon. In the mean time, I’ve gone through two career changes from engineering to life insurance and have moved throughout western Canada. All the while, the Lord was leading me and preparing me for ministry.

In November of 1993, a few friends and myself drove down to Seattle from Calgary for what I call a Sportsweekend. We saw a Sonics basketball game and a Seahawk football game. On the way back, as we were driving through the mountains, we hit a severe snowstorm. To make matters worse, we had to drive through the night for one of my friends had to be back the next morning for an exam. To make a long story short, the driver lost control of the car on the ice. We did a few 360’s and then we flipped into a ditch. We were in the mountains and was I ever glad that there was a ditch. I remember climbing out of the car and wondering why I was still alive. All of us could’ve easily been killed and yet not one of us was hurt. Lord, why did you spare my life? Then I remembered my promise to the Lord almost 12 years earlier. The accident had been a wake-up call. I applied for seminary in faith that He would provide and that’s why I’m here today. I have committed my life to serving our God.
